We Won!!
We are thrilled to announce that we were nominated in this year’s R-Awards 2024 and last night 30th November we won the Part Time Business Award 2024.
For those who have followed the Bacup Museum since the COVID-19 pandemic, you know how tirelessly we have worked to keep the “Nat” moving forward and to make it a warm, inclusive welcoming place for everyone.
As soon as we could meet after the pandemic, we began revamping the museum. We dedicated seven days a week to cleaning and decorating, not just the museum but the ground floor as well. Unfortunately, we lost some committee members along the way who couldn’t reconcile with the drastic changes needed for our survival.
After the refurbishment, we faced a significant rise in heating and lighting costs, which was very worrying. However, we got through it with the help and support of our fantastic members and non-member donations. We would like to thank every single one of you who has helped us get to this point.
Special thanks to Councillor Scott Smith for his yearly LLC Members grant, and to RBC for their support in granting us a yearly Community Forum Grant. Thanks also to our very talented handyman Jamie, our friend Peter Dunn for his counsel and advice, and Councillor Andrew Walmsley and patron Maurice Priest, and finally a huge thank you to whoever nominated us and to Ruth Winter Chair of Valley at Work and Rossendale Business Awards for sponsoring our category and for her kind words last night.
While this award might seem insignificant to some, it means the world to us. It signifies that all our hard work has truly paid off.
Thank You from the Trustees & Committee
